Foreclosure activity for 2009 decreased in Connecticut over the prior year. There was a total of 19,679 properties with filings. That works out to a rate of one filing for every 73 households, which is more than the United States average of 45, and a little more than one percent of the state’s housing units.
Those figures represent a 10 percent decrease over 2008 and a 65 percent increase over 2007.

Economy:
Connecticut derives most of its revenue from manufacturing, which has been a staple of its economy since the industrial revolution. Defense contractors like United Technologies and General Electric produce high-tech military products, and gun manufacturers like Colt and Marlin all call Connecticut home. In addition, many of the country's financial services and health insurance companies operate out of the state, particularly the city of Hartford. Yale University is one of the Connecticut's largest employers.
Noteworthy: Connecticut ratified North America's first constitution in 1639, which is why it's known as “The Constitution State.”
